Call to make Salem malnutrition-free

SALEM: Continuous support from all sections of medical fraternity, including homeopathy doctors, is required to make the district malnutrition-free, the Collector, A. Sukumaran, has said.

Inaugurating a one-day workshop for homeopathy doctors, jointly organised by the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) - III and the Tamil Nadu Homeopathy Doctors Association, here on Tuesday, the Collector said participation of homeopathy doctors, who were working closely with the people, was essential to eliminate the problem of undernourishment among children in the district.

Wholesome food

The district has 2.34 lakh children aged below five, 1.33 lakh children aged below three and 1.39 lakh adolescent girls. The administration is providing nutritious food to these children and girls through 2,186 anganwadi centres in the district. Besides, it supports activities for the self-development of girls.

State general secretary of the association, V. R. Kalaimani and Deputy Director of Health, K. Soundrarajan were present.
