SALEM: The Salem Corporation has started restoring a minor leak in the main distribution pipeline that supplies river water to Arisipalayam and its surrounding areas on Srirangapalayam West Street here on Tuesday.

Shutdown

According to Corporation officials, the Corporation had shutdown the water supply on June 29 and 30 to rectify a major leak that occurred in the Mettur - Attur main pipeline at Fairlands here, which remained unattended for weeks together.

"When the supply was resumed on July 1, the breach in the distribution pipeline occurred," officials said.

Resumed today

The Corporation had deployed workers and an earthmover to fix the leak.

Water supply to Arisipalayam and a few other residential colonies was temporarily suspended. "Supply will be resumed on July 6," officials said.
