Bodies of two Chennai youths found at Kodaikanal

CHENNAI DEC. 25. Bodies of two youths from Chennai who left home more than a fortnight ago have been found at Kodaikanal.

The police today said they had deputed personnel to bring the bodies to the city. According to police, Ramesh Babu (19) and Sasikumar (19) of Virugambakkam left their houses on December 6. Before leaving, they organised a party for their friends in Chennai.

On December 8, they left a letter with one of their classmates, requesting them not to launch any search, if they did not return. Again on December 10, they were seen at Salem and after that there was no communication from them. On Tuesday, the police received a call from Kodaikanal police that they found the bodies of two youths and their identity was established, the police said. Suicide is suspected and investigation is on.

Ganja seized

In another incident, the body of a 35-year-old man was found near Paddy Field Road in Perambur. Police said stab injuries were found in the chest and the identity of the deceased was yet to be established. The Sembium police have registered a case and are investigating.

On Tuesday ganja weighing 18 kg was seized from a person at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus.

The police said Ganesan (30) of Andipatti was arrested when he was moving about in the terminus in a suspicious circumstance. The police seized the contraband from him.

The Chengalpattu East Police seized 15 cans of rectified spirit and detained four persons including an illicit smuggler of rectified spirit , Udhayakumar of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. According to Chengalpattu East District Superintendent of Police, A.G.Ponn Manickavel, last month they arrested a former panchayat president, Ethiraj along with his three associates, who illegally kept 4,200 litres of rectified spirit in a school in Chithalapakkam. Interrogation with them led to the arrest of the main supplier of the spirit, Mr. Ponn Manickavel said.

The police also seized a car, a van and two motorcycles used by the smugglers.
