Blue Cross OP ward to remain closed for fortnight

CHENNAI NOV. 9. The outpatient ward at the Blue Cross shelter at Velachery will not attend to the cases from November 11 to 26.

With rains lashing the city, a large number of animals were rescued in the last ten days. Most of the rescued animals required constant medical attention and care. With a few veterinarians attending to the rescued and other sheltered animals at the place, it would be difficult to run the outpatient ward, said a press release from the animal welfare organisation here on Saturday.

Moreover, a large number of animal handlers and attenders were absent for duty as their houses were flooded. So, the outpatient ward would remain closed for a fortnight. Owners could take their pets to the Government Veterinary Hospital on Anna Salai at Saidapet or the TANUVAS at Vepery.
