BHEL initiates CSR activities in Pudukottai

BHEL’s Power Plant Piping Unit (PPPU) at Thirumayam in Pudukkottai district, which began trial production a year ago, has begun reaching out to the beneficiaries as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Last week, the Executive Director of BHEL Piping Centre, Chennai, and PPPU, Thirumayam, S. Gopinath, handed over benches and tables to Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Thirumayam.

The donated items were worth Rs. 2.2 lakh. Mr. Gopinath said the CSR activities would be carried out similar to the methodology adopted by BHEL Tiruchi.

At a function, the Executive Director handed over the materials in the presence of V. Ravindran, General Manager, PPPU, and other senior officials, including M. Krishnamoorthy, Deputy General Manager – Administration. Assistant headmistress Anita Jasmine thanked the BHEL for the gesture.

According to official sources, the PPPU has a manpower strength of over 700 of whom about 600 constitute artisans. The PPPU was started to deliver annual output of 20,000 metric tonnes of critical piping components.
