MADURAI: Amidst tight security, the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary passed off peacefully here on Wednesday.

The Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath organised a demonstration at Tallakulam condemning the demolition that had hurt the sentiments of the people.

Its members raised slogans expressing concern that even after 14 years there was no move to construct the masjid at the same site in Ayodhya. The TNTJ State secretary, `Kovai' Jaffer, and Madurai district president, H. Khaleel Rehman, among others, spoke.

Elaborate security arrangements were in place at railway station, bus stands, places of worship and other vital installations.
