MADURAI, NOV.29. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 30.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 20.6 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam today stood at 130 feet with an inflow of 628 cusecs and a discharge of 900 cusecs.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 65.78 feet with an inflow of 1250 cusecs and a discharge of 2434 cusecs.

The combined Periyar credit stood at 6935 mcft.

Run over

by train

A Computer Engineer working at the Theni Collectorate died after he was run over by a train here today.

The police said M. Taj Mohammed (35) of Mahaboobpalayam was trying to cross the track to board a passenger train this morning when the empty rake of the Pandyan Express ran over him.

The victim died on the spot. Railway officials said the train was being shunted to the yard when the accident took place.

The Railway Police have registered a case.

Fatal fall

A wireman of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board died after he fell from a lamppost today. According to the police, K. Vijay Kumar (47), an employee of the TNEB Subramaniapuram powerhouse, was attending to an electric post in the Thideer Nagar locality when he slipped and fell.

He died on the way to the Government Rajaji Hospital.



The Superintending Engineer, Madurai Electricity Distribution Circle, will conduct a grievance day meeting at the Office of the Executive Engineer, Electrical, Samayanallur, on December 2.
