Cloudy sky

CHENNAI, AUG. 1 . The sky will be generally cloudy on Monday with the possibility of light rain in some areas during late evening or night. On Sunday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.7 degrees Celsius while Meenambakkam recorded 32.5 and 26.3 degrees Celsius as maximum and minimum respectively. Humidity at Nungambakkam was 59 per cent and at Meenambakkam, 73 per cent.

Health camp

At a health camp organised by the Hindu Mission Hospital of Tambaram at Rathinamanglam near Vandalur zoo, over 200 persons were treated for various ailments. Ten of them were referred for eye surgery and two people were referred for general surgery.

Eye check up

Of the more than 950 people screened at Subramanian Nagar in Ponneri, 132 were diagnosed with various eye disorders and would be treated for no charge at Uma Eye Clinic at Anna Nagar. The free eye camp, sponsored by Vision Foundation, was held on Wednesday.

Award

The Rashtriya Gaurav award was conferred on G. Ebinesan, chief executive officer and general secretary of YMCA, Madras on Saturday on behalf of the India International Friendship Society. The award was in recognition of Dr. Ebinesan's contribution to the development of youth and YMCA's efforts in uplifting the marginalised sections of society.

Temples cleaned

Volunteers of SMILE (Selfless Movement Improving Life Everywhere) cleaned the Kandaswamy temple at Rasappa Chetty Street in Park Town. The organisation has cleaned around 65 temples in the city.
