TIRUCHI, APRIL 24. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 38.0 degree Celsius and a minimum of 27.9 degree Celsius.

Chithirai festival

The 14-day Chithirai festival of the Rockfort Sri Thayumanaswami Temple began today with the hoisting of the holy flag. The car festival will be held on May 2.

Book fair

The Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Sevashram (SRVS) will conduct a 15-day book fair at the K.A.P. Viswanatham Higher Secondary School, Thillai Nagar, from April 25.

The exhibition will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on all days.

An exhibition on the lives of Sri Ramakrishna, Saratha Devi and Swami Vivekananda will also be held at the Vidya Varithi Narasimmam Gallery on the school premises. Videos of Kailash Yathra will also be shown on all days.

Admission will be free, and a discount of 10-40 per cent will be given for all books, said Swami Krishnananda, Founder, SRVS.

Music institute opened

Sri Saradha Sangeetha Vidyalaya, an exclusive institute to teach devotional songs, was inaugurated at the Sringeri Vidhyabharathi Bavanam at Srirangam on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, a six-week summer sloka class for school students was inaugurated by V. S. Nagarajan.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 25.73 feet today.

The inflow was 295 cusecs, and the discharge 40 cusecs.
