Water level

MADURAI: The water level in the Periyar dam stood at 127.10 feet with an inflow of 913 cusecs and a discharge of 1000 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 64.50 feet with an inflow of 1037 cusecs and a discharge of 271cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 6496 mcft.

New DC takes charge

A.P. Arumugham took charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes), Madurai City, on Thursday. He was earlier Additional Superintendent of Police (Prohibition Enforcement Wing), Madurai, police sources said.

Regular classes from December 5

Regular classes for all post-graduate and under-graduate courses of the Evening College of Madurai Kamaraj University will begin on December 5, according to a press release from the Director.

Training in yogasana

Gandhi Memorial Museum will conduct a month-long scientific training in yogasana, pranayama, meditation and balanced diet from December 5.

Classes will be held for one hour at 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 10.30 a.m., and 5 p.m. Persons of both the sexes can participate. The 10.30 a.m. session is exclusively for women. Free medical camp

The State Bank of India, Pasumalai branch, conducted a free medical camp at Sivananada Tapovanam on Sunday. According to a press release, a team of doctors, led by Vadivel Murugan, conducted medical check up for about 300 persons and distributed free medicines. The president of Sivananada Tapovanam, Swami Sivananada Sundarananada, the Deputy General Manger, N. Sadasivam, and the Pasumalai Branch Manager, B.N. Ramesh, spoke.

ATM inaugurated

The seventh ATM of Canara Bank in the city was inaugurated at Anna Nagar on Monday in the presence of S.S. Baskaran, Deputy General Manager. According to a press release, A.S. Rani, customer of the Grand Central branch of the bank, inaugurated the ATM. With this, the bank's ATM tally in Madurai region has gone up to 18.
