CHENNAI, MARCH 18. The sky will be partly cloudy on Friday in the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be 34 and 25 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department.

On Thursday, Nungambakkam recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 32.6 and 24.3 degrees Celsius. The readings at Meenambakkam were 32.5 and 23.9. Humidity was 70 and 76 per cent.

Contact classes

Contact classes for MBA students will be held at SBOA Matriculation School in Anna Nagar and at PECRA centre at Periyar Thidal in Vepery for MCA students on Saturday and Sunday. The Distance Education of M.K. University Study Centre is organising this programme.

Free cancer screening camp

Blood donation

Ninety-seven units of blood were collected at a camp held at Madras Christian College in Tambaram on Monday by Hindustan Latex Limited. The Indian Red Cross Society's blood bank collected the blood.

Bank counter opened

The State Bank of Travancore launched the `grahak mitra' counter at its Anna Nagar East branch on Thursday. Grahak mitra is a scheme devised to improve customer service.

Asthma awareness

An asthma awareness camp will be held on Saturday at Raju Hospitals in T. Nagar between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

National Science Day

Bharathi Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School celebrated National Science Day with a science exposition. R. Krishnaswami, chairman of Vidya Bharathi Trust and Ravi Shah, vice-president of TCS Chennai operations, inaugurated the expo. The school also celebrated the `World Year of Physics 2005' with a presentation on 100 years of achievements in physics.
