Apostolic Administrator of Tiruchi Diocese

His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Most Rev. M. Devadass Ambrose, Bishop of Thanjavur, as Apostolic Administrator of Tiruchi Diocese.

The appointment was made in the wake of the Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Tiruchi Rev. Antony Devotta resigning from his position citing completion of 75th year.

The resignation was duly accepted by His Holiness Pope Francis.

The Apostolic Administrator will take charge of the diocese on August 12, at St. Mary's Cathedral, before the evening mass, according to a circular letter issued by Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, Secretary General, Catholic Bishops Conference of India.

Following the communication, Rev. Fr. John Azaharias, Chancellor of the Diocese of Thanjavur arranged a gathering of local priests to congratulate the new Apolstolic Administrator on his appointment to the additional ministry.
