AIADMK, allies identify seats in Pondicherry

AIADMK will contest in 16 constituencies It gives 10 seats for the Puducherry Munnetra Congress and two each for the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dalit Panthers of India

CHENNAI: General secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Saturday released the list of constituencies earmarked for the constituents of the Democratic People's Front (DPF) in Pondicherry.

As per Ms. Jayalalithaa's announcement, the AIADMK will field its candidates in 16 of the 30 constituencies, leaving 10 seats for the Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) and two each for the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) and the Dalit Panthers of India.

The seats allotted for AIADMK are Muthialpet, Oupalam, Orleampeth, Nellithope, Mannadipeth, Ossudu (Reserved), Ozhukarai, Thattanchavadi, Reddiarpalayam and Lawspet in the Pondicherry region, Cotchery, Karaikal and Neravy in the Karaikal region and Mahe, Palloor and Yanam.

The Cassicade, Raj Bhavan, Bussy, Modeliarpeth, Ariankuppam, Nettapakkam, Kuruvinatham, Bahour (Reserved), Villenour and Karaikal south seats have been allocated to the PMC.

The Tirubhuvanai (Reserved) seat and Tirunallar in the Karaikal region have been allotted to the MDMK while the DPI will try its luck from two reserved seats Embalom and Neduncadu in the AIADMK-led alliance.

The allocation of seats have been made on the basis of decisions arrived at after discussions held by the election panels of the AIADMK and its allies, Ms. Jayalalithaa said.
