A phone call to cherish for them

COIMBATORE: It is an evening Akash K. Mahagaonkar and two fellow Rotaractors will not forget in a long time. When Akash, District Chairman for Professional Service, R I District 3200, wrote to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, seven months ago detailing the work of the clubs in Coimbatore and their desire to meet him, little did he expect to hear from the First Citizen.

On Monday night, he received a call from the President's secretary with an appointment for him and two of his friends to meet Mr. Kalam on Tuesday night at the Circuit House.

Joining Akash, an apex committee member of Project Siruthuli, for the interaction were Tanushree, a Class XII student of Avila Convent, and Pon Rathnavel, a lecturer in the Tamil Nadu College of Engineering.

Akash, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering (III year) at the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, has only one word to describe the meeting - "Excellent."

"He was friendly and made us feel comfortable ... asked us not to feel nervous because he was President and keep asking him questions."
