A heartening sight

Sir, — It was nice to see the two young Pakistani brothers, who strayed across the border, being "gently sent back home" (Dec. 4). The goodwill generated by this incident cannot be measured and might lead to other noble gestures of human kindness and brotherhood, putting an end to 50 years of hate and mayhem. After all, we are neighbours and were one family half a century ago.

John F. Durai,

Sir, — The move to resume the Samjhauta Express (Dec. 4) between India and Pakistan is welcome. This will indeed bring solace to the divided Indian families who wish to visit their kin in Pakistan and vice versa.
