TIRUCHI: : The State third rank holder in the SSLC public examination, W. Oliver Samson Roy, a student of St. Antony's High School in Kattur in Tiruchi, was down with fever and hospitalised on the day of mathematics test. However, undeterred he went to the examination hall straight from the hospital bed. By securing cent per cent in mathematics, he managed to aggregate 488 marks to achieve the State third and district first distinctions.

Oliver Samson Roy attributed his success to the sustained encouragement of the headmistress, Sr. Jansi Rani, class teacher, Jasmine, and other teachers. "It was the commitment of teachers to conduct special classes till late night hours which enabled me to secure the distinction', he admitted with total modesty.

Son of R. Wellington Anbananthan, head clerk at the office of the Divisional Railway Manager and Santhi, a teacher at the Government High School, Koviladi in Thanjavur district, Samson Roy was just expecting the school rank, and the State-level honour was a pleasant surprise.
