Woman tests positive for A(H1N1) virus

RAMANATHAPURAM: A pregnant woman, tested positive for A(H1N1) virus, was admitted to the Government Hospital here for treatment on Friday.

The 29-year-old woman from Pamban was in the second semester of pregnancy. When she went to a private hospital in Madurai for a routine check-up a few days ago, she had fever and cold. The swab samples sent to King Institute in Chennai for screening tested positive for swine flu. Based on intimation sent by the hospital, the health authorities of Ramanathapuram informed her relatives.

V. Uma Maheswarai, Deputy Director, Health, told The Hindu that the patient was immediately admitted to the isolation ward in the Government Hospital and treatment started. She was being observed round-the-clock and her condition was improving.
