MADURAI: A web site for Information Technology jobseekers and entrepreneurs was launched here on Friday to present suitable employment opportunities to students passing out of colleges in southern districts every year.

The web site, >www.maduraiitians.com, an initiative of the Department of Information Technology of Yadava College, was inaugurated at the State-level inter-collegiate meet, BEATS 2007, held on the college campus.

According to S.P. Kabilan, Head, Department of IT, the web site idea was thought of to bring together students, faculty, jobseekers and the industry.

The requirements of the industry and the kind of candidates needed for jobs would be posted on the web site and students could have information on all IT issues.

Mr. Kabilan said the effort, titled `refreshing IT vessels,' would help the students of colleges in all southern districts to prepare themselves as good IT professionals. Besides, the vacancies available in different software companies also would be posted on the web site, he said.

The Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, P. Maruthamuthu, who participated in the inaugural function, said that the IT revolution had been making significant strides and many job opportunities were coming up.

P. Rengan, Principal (in-charge) of Yadava College, said the web site would help three categories of people students, teachers and entrepreneurs and it would enable interaction among them on related issues.
