Two robbed of cash after withdrawing money from bank

ERODE: Two persons were robbed soon after withdrawing cash from banks in two separate incidents in Chennimalai and Kangayam police station limits. According to the Chennimalai police, P. Palanisamy of Ammapalayam, Chennimalai, withdrew Rs. 70,000 from a bank on Saturday morning, went home, kept Rs. 7,000 in the safe and returned with Rs. 63,000 and two soiled 1,000-Rupee notes for exchange. He kept the money in a bag, which he placed it in the side box of his two-wheeler and went to a store to make a purchase. When he returned he found the cash bag missing. A case has been registered. Similarly in Kangayam police station limits, V. Subramaniam of Thottiampalayam withdrew Rs. 1 lakh, from which he paid Rs. 10,000 to the very bank to recover pledged jewellery. He kept the bag containing the recovered jewellery and Rs. 90,000 in his motorcycle sidebox and went to a tea shop. When he returned he found the box broken open and the bag stolen. The total value of the stolen property was worth about Rs. 1,00,000, the police said.
