Two arrested for auto driver’s death

CHENNAI: Two persons were arrested by the Thiruvanmiyur police on charges of causing the death of an autorickshaw driver by negligence.

According to police sources, Rethina Sabapathi (47) of Pallikaranai returned home from work on October 11 and complained of uneasiness. He died on the way to hospital.

Since there was an injury on his head, the police registered a case of suspicious death. Investigation revealed that two youths quarrelled with Sabapathi in Thiruvanmiyur.

In the melee that followed, he fell down and suffered a head injury.

The accused, Abdul Karim (21) and Ravi Kumar (21), were arrested.

Found hanging

A 26-year-old woman in Alwarthirunagar allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday.

Police said Vinitha of Meenakshi Amman Nagar was married to a police constable. On Monday, she quarrelled with her husband and took the extreme step. She was found hanging at their house.
