Trauma care centres to be set up

Dharmapuri: The district administration has initiated steps to procure breath analyzers to check drunken driving, Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal has said.

The Traffic Police had registered 33 cases of drunken driving in various police stations in the district last month.

Efforts had been initiated to cancel the driving licence of 18 persons, he added.

The Collector directed officials concerned to install road safety signs and boards on the Thoppur Ghat stretch, which was prone to accidents.

Fine collected

The Transport Department has collected a compound fee of Rs. 5,500 from 18 autorickshaws in Dharmapuri for various offences.

Teachers of government and private schools should help children cross roads during peak hours.

Efforts had been initiated to set up trauma care centres at Thoppur Ghat and Gundalpatti on National Highway-7, Mr. Bansal added.
