Tourism Minister to inaugurate sub-way

Nagercoil: The underground sub-way connecting Nagercoil Anna bus stand and Sir C. P. Ramasamy Ayyar park would be inaugurated by Tourism Minister N. Suresh Rajan on April 4.

It was decided to construct the sub-way to decongest traffic, said the chairperson of Nagercoil Municipal council, Asokan Solomon, in the council meeting, held here on Wednesday.

The chairman presented the budget in the council meeting.

The total expense was quoted at Rs. 35.47 crore, while the income was Rs. 33.98 crore.

The deficit was Rs. 1.49crore.

A resolution to this effect was unanimously passed at the meeting.

The councillors of AIADMK, BJP and MDMK boycotted the council meeting to protest against the hike in property tax.

The councillors also questioned the concerned authorities about the steps taken against defaulters.

Resolution

The chairman said that a special resolution to this effect would be passed in the next council meeting.

The Government had allotted a sum of Rs. 25 lakh for the implementation of Ulakkaiaruvi project to provide adequate potable water to the residents of the municipal limit.

The councillors pointed out that it was put in ‘cold storage.'

However the chairman assured them of immediate steps to implement this project.
