Thangkabalu’s stand condemned

ERODE: The Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement, which spearheads a campaign for lifting the ban on toddy tapping, has taken exception to Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu’s stand.

On January 21, when the movement launched a State-wide agitation, Mr. Thangkabalu staged a protest in Chennai, urging the State government not to lift the ban.

Toddy movement organiser C. Nallasami said the protest betrayed what he called the anti-people stand of the Congress, as the ban went not only against toddy workers but also against palm and coconut growers.
