Thamizh Isai Moovar site inspected

NAGAPATTINAM: Information Minister Paruthi Ilamvazhuthi and Minister for Dairy Development U.Mathivanan inspected the land for construction of Thamizh Isai Moovar memorial in Sirkazhi on Wednesday.

Mr.Ilamvazhuthi said that a grant of Rs.30 lakh was sanctioned in 1999 for the construction of a memorial for Thamizh Isai Moovar Muthaandavar Pillai, Maarimuthu Pillai and Arunachala Kavirayar Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi.

But the grant has been revised to Rs.92 lakh to meet the expenses.

Based on this, the inspection for the site was conducted by the ministers here today.

A blueprint shall be prepared for the approval of the Chief Minister soon.

The 44-cent memorial would be constructed aesthetically, the Minister said.

Collector C. Munianathan, Director of Public Relations C.Kamaraj, Member of the Legislative Assembly Sirkazhi M.Paneerselvam, Sirkazhi Panchayat union member Thiaga Vijeshwaran, Municipal Chairperson Shanthini Ponmudi, Kolidam Panchayat President Malavizhi Thirumavalavan, Tahsildar, Sirkazhi, Balachandran, and Public Works Department Engineer Murugesan were present.
