KANCHEEPURAM: Judicial Magistrate Court-I, Kancheepuram on Thursday granted bail to S.Devanathan, temple priest, who was arrested in connection with the sex scandal case.

No charge sheet

filed

According to defence lawyer Desai, Magistrate V.Sutha granted bail to Devanathan as the police failed to file the charge sheet in this case within the mandatory period of 90 days.

A bail petition was moved on behalf of Devanathan and conditional bail was granted subsequently.

As per the bail condition, the accused had to sign a register at JM Court-I daily and to execute two sureties of Rs.10,000 each to execute the conditional bail, Mr.Desai added.

The temple priest surrendered before JM Court-I in November last year after the Siva Kanchi police registered a case against him under sections 295; 153-A and 506 (ii) of IPC based on complaints received by them which alleged that Devanathan indulged in sexual activities with women on the temple premises.
