Team from Kerala visits Tirupur

Tirupur: A 25-member high-level delegation comprising members of leading weavers’ cooperative societies in Kerala concluded their two-day ‘B2B’ exposure visit to textile clusters in Tirupur and its suburbs on Friday.

The trip was organized by Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (KBIP) under the Department of Industries, Government of Kerala, with an aim to give an opportunity for the Kerala-based weavers to gain from the successful Tirupur model of garment manufacturing.

The members held interactive sessions with representatives of organizations to study the latest manufacturing practices followed in the textile clusters in Tamil Nadu.

Officials of Textiles Committee, G Venugopal and D. Dhandapani, explained to the visitors the cluster development activities taken up in Tirupur.

S. Santhosh, Deputy Manager, KBIP, told ‘The Hindu’ that they were able to study some innovative procedures adopted in the ‘finishing process’ of the production chain in Tirupur.
