Leaders of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) and its political wing Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) on Thursday met AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa and discussed about the general political situation in the state.

“We were invited to meet Ms. Jayalalithaa and ours was a courtesy call,” TMMK president M.H. Jawahirullah said. Former Minister K.A.Sengottaiyan facilitated the meeting.

Maintaining that the issue of alliance did not figure in the meeting, Mr Jawahirullah said both sides had a discussion on the political situation in the State.

“We requested her to put pressure on the Centre to implement the recommendations of Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission asking the government to provide reservation for the Muslims,” he said.

TMMK general secretary Hyder Ali and MMK general secretary Abdul Samad were among those who called on Ms Jayalalithaa.
