CHENNAI: The Federation of Senior Citizen Associations of Tamil Nadu on Saturday organised a symposium here on ‘life after 60.’

Secretary-General of the International Federation on Ageing Jane Barratt urged the senior citizens to “live in the moment.” She emphasised that a sense of community was one of the most important factors in the well-being of elders.

K.R. Gangadharan, Asian regional vice-president of the federation, strung together anecdotes of elders achieving remarkable feats.

The event was sponsored by Tamil Nadu Elders Welfare Association, a group opposing neglect of elders and advocating a uniform national pension as well as properly implemented healthcare services and social security schemes.
