Swamy’s appeal to party cadre

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has urged all party district units to file police complaints if they come across instances of using LTTE leader Prabakaran’s name in publications or bill boards.

The cadre should follow up a complaint to the police to be filed under the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act with a copy to the Janata Party’s central office in Chennai.

He also said in a release to the media, that he had received a letter from Principal Secretary, Home, S. Malathi, which made it clear that speaking in support of the LTTE, using the portraits of its leaders or their flags or insignia in public places is an offence under the above said Act.

She had also said that the State government was determined to take strict action of any violation brought to its notice.

“In pursuance of this policy, the government had already taken action against MDMK leader Vaiko for his blatant pro-LTTE propaganda,” Dr. Swamy added.
