Subsidy for motors

ERODE: In an effort to conserve electricity use and to improve the functioning of motors used in irrigation, the Agriculture Engineering Department has announced subsidy to help farmers change the machinery. A release from the Department says for pump sets with less than five horse power, it will provide either Rs. 3,500 or 50 per cent of the cost, depending on whichever is lower for farmers from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. And, either Rs. 2,500 or 25 per cent of the cost, depending on whichever is lower for farmers from other communities. For pump sets with over five HP, it will provide either Rs. 6,000 or 50 per cent of the cost, depending on whichever is lower for farmers from SC and ST communities. And, either Rs. 5,000 or 25 per cent of the cost, depending on whichever is lower for farmers from other communities. For changing accessories of either pump set or electrical connection, the Department will provide either Rs. 1,500 or 50 per cent of the cost, depending on whichever is lower.
