Buses find it difficult to reach Keezha Uppoorani

TIRUNELVELI: Students of Keezha Uppoorani village under Singikulam panchayat in Kalakkad Union submitted a petition to the Collector, G. Prakash, on Monday urging him to re-lay the road leading to their school.

Accompanied by the villagers, the students said the junction of roads from Singikulam and Karisalpatti was in a bad shape after the recent rains and consequently, Keezha Uppoorani had been cut off from neighbouring villages. Moreover, buses could not come to the village, affecting students from reaching their school at Karisalpatti in time.

“We have to walk for nearly 5 km every day for the past 10 days to reach our school. Similarly, beedi rollers and patients going to hospital have also been badly affected,” the students said.
