Students organise exhibition

ERODE: Students of two different institutions organised as many programmes to create awareness on consumer issues in the district on Tuesday.

Master of Business Administration students of Nandha Engineering College, Erode, organised an exhibition on consumer awareness. They displayed branded, well-known, popular and duplicate, look-alike products to educate students on the need to be aware to choose the right product. From biscuits to shaving creams to mobile phone chargers the students showcased the items side-by-side and explained how consumers are exploited. They wanted to the customers to be careful, look at the pack, see if the name mentioned is what they wanted and also watch out the name of the manufacturer.

On medicine strips, the students said many fake or inferior products with similar-sounding names were available in the market, leaving consumers at the mercy of doctors or pharmacists. For such products, the students said they should go by the manufacturer’s name and not product name.

They also wanted customers to check the prices of the original products.
