Students boycott classes, block road in Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: About 2,500 students of Kaveripattinam Government Boys Higher Secondary School boycotted their classes on Wednesday demanding immediate ceasefire and attack on Tamils by the Sri Lankan army.

The raised slogans against the State and Central Governments and demanded immediate action to stop genocide of Tamils by the Sri Lankan forces.

The students also blocked the road. Traffic on Krishnagiri- Dharmapuri Highway was affected for an hour.

Traffic restored

Kaveripattinam police rushed to the spot and pacified the students to disburse. Traffic was later restored.

Tamizhaga Manavar Sangam’s State deputy secretary Kumar presided over the agitation.

Murugan, PMK district secretary, Mohan Ram, PMK’s youth wing district secretary took part in the agitation.

About 40 cadre of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) also staged dharna in front of the Revenue Divisional Office condemning the Sri Lanka Government.
