And to explore publicity options, including emerging new media avenues

CHENNAI: The importance of identifying target groups and focussing on marketing products through cost-effective methods, without compromising on quality and backed up by customer service, was stressed by Arun Bewoor, president of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).

At a seminar on ‘Branding and Marketing for Women Entrepreneurs,’ organised by the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council here on Saturday, Mr. Bewoor highlighted the need for building up brand equity since the country was now at the centre stage of economic activities and attracting global attention. He urged the women entrepreneurs to go in for more joint ventures and concentrate on core areas of business.

Vidhya Srinivasan, Chief Operating Officer of Integrated Brand-Comm, Chennai, who spoke on marketing linkages at the micro-level, appealed to the women entrepreneurs to focus on building a strong brand with a logo that would be the first point of recognition in the highly competitive market.

She also wanted them to explore various publicity options, including the emerging new media avenues.

Nabarun Ghose, Professor of Marketing and Business, the University of Findlays, Ohio, highlighted the importance of marketing strategy and networking.


V.L. Indira Dutt, chairperson, SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council, (SCWEC) said the council was set up in February 2007 as a sub-sector council of the SAARC and was engaged in conducting training programmes, seminars and workshops for empowering women and women entrepreneurs of SAARC countries.
