Sterlite extends financial assistance for scheme

Tuticorin: The Sterlite Industries India Limited has extended financial assistance under Namakku Naame Thittam to renovate the burial ground in South Veerapandiapuram in the district.

Joseph J.M. Peeris, General Manager, Human Resources, Sterlite, handed over a cheque for Rs.3,67,500 to the District Revenue Officer and Collector (in-charge), D. Ravichandran, in the presence of Ponraj, panchayat president, South Veerapandiapuram on Tuesday at the Collectorate on Tuesday.

“The total cost for the renovation is Rs.7 lakh and the remaining 50 per cent of the cost will be contributed by the Government. The existing burial ground, which is in a bad condition, will have a new compound wall and rest room with water facilities, once the project is over” Mr. Joseph said.

Besides corporate social responsibility activities in the field of health education, women empowerment and infrastructure development had been carried out in the village, he said.
