Separate control room to be set up

In view of ten-day temple event

NAGERCOIL: A separate control room would be set up near Mondaicadu Bagavathy Amman temple by the Department of Fire Service in view of the ten-day Masi festival to be celebrated from February 28.

150 personnel

According to the Divisional Fire Officer, Francis Vas, around 150 fire service personnel would be pressed in to service.

In addition to that 20 specially trained commandos would also be pressed into service near the sea shore and Anantha Victoria Marthanda Varma channel, where devotees would take bath after worshipping the deity.

Four fire tenders and an ambulance, would be in place during the event. Moreover, three trailer pumps would be given to fire service personnel. With the help of these pumps, water could be filled in the vehicles immediately in case of emergency. He also sought the co-operation of traders while setting up the make shift shops around the temple. The police also decided to construct watch towers at sea shore to monitor the movement of devotees, said the Divisional Fire Officer.
