Students are studying engineering

Scholarships will cover fees and other expenses



SALEM: Five students who studied in the Salem Corporation schools and secured high marks in the higher secondary examinations in the academic year 2007-08 were selected for the State government scholarship for engineering education.

The students are: G. Divya and M. Tamil Selvi from Ammapet Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, R. Kokilavani and P. Menaka from Gugai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, and R. Devarajan from Ammapet Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School.

The students are now pursuing their engineering degree in different colleges.

The scholarship, provided through the local administration department, would cover the entrance fee, tuition fee, hostel accommodation, expenses for books and examination fee.

Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin would distribute the scholarships to the students at a function scheduled to be held at Chennai on January 25.

The students met Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini here on Saturday before leaving for Chennai.

Senior officials congratulated the students.

The civic body has arranged the transportation for the students.
