Kozhikode: The Retired Teachers and Employees Union have decided to take out a march to the Secretariat on June 26 to press its demand to implement the eighth pay revision for teachers and State Government employees who retired between March 2002 and June 2004.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, State union president Koottickal Abdul Latheef and general secretary P.V. Varkey Kanakkary said that pay revisions were implemented in 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1992 and 1997.

However, the Government instead of implementing the next pay revision in March 2002 decided to implement it after 28 months from June 2004.

Thus, over 35,000 retired employees were left out of the eighth pay revision recommendations, they said.
