Ramadoss voices new demand

CHENNAI: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Friday said the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister should take up with the Railway Minister at the appropriate time, the demand by the local people for annexing Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli district areas to the Madurai railway division or creating a separate division with Tirunelveli as its headquarters.

Dr. Ramadoss said the Kerala Government was unnecessarily creating problems regarding the new Salem Division.

PMK president G.K. Mani, in a statement, said the Statewide protest against permitting retail sales of vegetables and fruits by multinational companies, scheduled for February 19, had been postponed to February 21 in view of the all-party talks on the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's verdict.
