Rally on electoral rolls

KARUR: Volunteers belonging to National Service Scheme (NSS) of various schools in Karur on Wednesday took out a rally to create awareness among the eligible public of utilising the opportunity to make corrections, additions, deletions and alterations in the draft photo electoral rolls on display in the district.

Collector J. Uma Maheswari flagged off the rally at the CSI Church Corner as the participants carrying banners and placards, highlighting the need to enrol eligible voters, wound their way through Thinnappa Theatre Corner, bus stand and Jawahar Bazaar before reaching the Municipal Higher Secondary School.

At the end of the rally, Dr. Uma Maheswari distributed handbills and pamphlets calling upon the public to make use of the opportunity to get enrolled in the draft photo electoral rolls.

NSS District Liaison Officer Paramanandan, District Coordinator Venkatraman, Chief Education Officer Kandasamy, District Education Officer Ramasamy and others had made the arrangements for the rally.
