A procession from Kohinoor Theatre junction up to the Martyrs’ memorial

TIRUCHI: Various political parties took out processions here on Monday on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day and paid respects to those who lost their lives for the cause of Tamil during the anti-Hindi agitations.

Cadres of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led by the party MP Kanimozhi took out a procession from Kohinoor Theatre junction up to the Martyrs memorial near Thennur Uzhavar Sandhai. Transport Minister K.N. Nehru and a good number of party cadres participated in the procession. The procession taken out by the members of the AIADMK was led by the party urban district secretary Manohar in which party MP Kumar, MLA M. Paranjothi and others took part. Cadres of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Puthiya Tamizhagam, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Tamil Desiya Podhuvudamai Katchi and Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam also took out processions and paid respects to the martyrs.
