Rail fracture delays trains

ATTUR: A rail fracture in the newly laid Salem-Vriddachalam broad gauge sector at the Muthupet level crossing near here on Saturday delayed trains for nearly two hours.

Railway sources said gangmen detected the fracture at the manned level crossing and stopped the Chennai-Salem express train, which was about to cross the point. After repairs, it was rectified. Traffic on the Ulundurpet-Salem national highway was also disrupted. — Special Correspondent
