CHENNAI: CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan has urged Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to order a CB-CID inquiry into the murder of the party's Pallipalyam unit secretary C. Velusamy, saying the local police would not be able to ensure justice.

In a letter, Mr. Ramakrishnan stated that though Velusamy had brought to the notice of the police on February 25 that he was facing a threat to his life from local financiers, no action was taken.

On March 10 he had approached the police at Pallipalayam for help but was killed an hour later. Mr. Ramakrishnan alleged that Velusamy was murdered by a gang led by a couple of local financiers, whose wrong deeds he had exposed.
