CHENNAI: The Board of Trustees of the Kapaleeswarar temple, Mylapore, on Tuesday invited the Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali to witness the float festival.

An official release stated that the Nawab was received at the float by the temple trustees, who offered him a shawl.

The Nawab was also honoured by the temple priests on the occasion.

Upholding tradition

The land for the temple was donated by the ancestors of the Nawab, he recalled.

Muslims were allowed to use the tank for a day in a year during the month of Muharram, which continued even today, he added.
