MADURAI: The Hindu Temple Protection Committee has urged the Collector to ensure that the ongoing works in the four Chithirai streets surrounding the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here were completed before the start of annual Chithirai festival.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, State Office Secretary P. Sundaravadivel, said that thousands of devotees would visit the temple during the festival days and the work would severely hamper their movement.

He also alleged that the works were moving at a slow pace and called for expediting it.

A memorandum in this regard was presented to the Collector by the Secretary, a press release from the Committee said.
