SALEM: Following criticism from the public over pig menace, the Salem Corporation on Tuesday re-launched its drive to rid city of pigs.

A team of workers caught about 30 pigs in a number of residential colonies, including Pachapatti and Carpet Street. Residents in these areas complained that pigs were posing serious threat to human health. The sanitary conditions in many parts remained poor due to the presence of large number of pigs. In Ammapet, weavers were incurring heavy loss as the animals were running over the yarn dried on the vacant spaces and streets, damaging them. The Corporation asked the pig rearers to shift the location to the outskirts of the city.
