SALEM: A photo exhibition highlighting the need to eradicate untouchability and promote communal harmony was opened for the public at the Hanging Garden here on Sunday. The exhibition was jointly organised by the Departments of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare and Information and Publication Relations to mark the Humanism Week celebrations.

Inaugurating the exhibition, District Revenue Officer M. Rajarathinam called upon people from all sections of the society to promote humanism, equality and fraternity.

The student community could play a vital role in promoting peace and communal harmony, he said and appealed to the students to sink the differences on the basis of caste, creed, colour or religion.

Students should hone their skills and make effective use of the assistance provided by the government, he added.
