Over 60 children given ‘Hepatitis B’ vaccine

TIRUCHI: Over 60 children with cerebral palsy, all inmates of Spastic Society Daycare Centre, were administered the third and final dosage of ‘Hepatitis B’ vaccine during a special camp here on Wednesday.

This project of the Ladies Circle India was sponsored by Tiruchi Ladies Circle No. 33.

The paediatrician at the spastic centre, Kingsley Jebakumar, administered the vaccine.

Free of cost

According to the chairperson of the Tiruchi Ladies Circle No. 33, Rathnamala Premanathan, vaccines were administered earlier in November and December last and Unijules pharmaceutical company had provided the same free of cost. The Ladies Circle had spent about Rs. 10,000 on the project.

The secretary of the Ladies Circle, Vidya Mathan, and other members were present.

Ms. Premanathan said that the Ladies Circle 33 was running a daycare centre for quarry workers and a special school for their children at Thuvakudi near here.


Her club had joined hands with the Round Table No. 54, Rotary Club of Cauvery and the Confederation of Indian Industry in the construction of a classroom block at Subbiah School in Tennur.
