Original toll restored at IT Corridor

CHENNAI: The State government has announced the restoration of the original level of toll charges for all categories of commercial vehicles plying on the IT Corridor (Rajiv Gandhi Salai) which are owned by local residents.

An official release from the Tamil Nadu Road Development Corporation said in view of the announcement, the monthly pass structure for the commercial vehicles owned by local residents would be Rs.100 for cars/load autorickshaws; Rs.150 for light commercial vehicles/earth movers and cranes; Rs.500 for trucks and multi-axle vehicles.

Concessions would be available only to commercial vehicles registered in the name of bona-fide local residents. The proof of local residence such as ration card, passport or voter identity card, presently being followed for the local resident pass, would apply in this case too. Discounts offered on return, daily and normal monthly pass remain unchanged, the release said.
