Conduct free medical camp

TIRUCHI: The Old Students’ Association of R.S.K. Higher Secondary School conducted a free master health check up for their teachers to coincide with the Teachers’ Day celebrations.

36 parameters covered

The master health check up, covering 36 microbiological parameters besides ECG, was conducted for the first batch of teachers at the Indian Medical Association Hall on September 4 and at Montfort Hall in the school the next day for the second batch. Ninety-eight present and former teachers, including principal P. Varadarajan and vice-principal D. Rajkumar, attended the health camp. The idea of a health camp was prompted by retired Physics teacher Rajagopal, said association vice-president Dr. S.S. Jagaram.

Funds mobilised

The association mobilised funds by reaching out to its members through its website and received contributions to the tune of Rs.1.66 lakh.

It planned to conduct ultrasound and pap smear testing for the women staff on September 9.

Doctors from among the old students in around the city would visit the school to interpret the medical results.

The old students’ association hoped to expand the scope of medical camps for the teachers, said Dr. Jagaram, an orthopaedician.
